Modules and Courses

Module 1: Introduction to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

What is diversity? What is equity? What is inclusion? This module will define these concepts and explain why these are important today. Inclusive organizations are more financially profitable because they capitalize on the individual strengths of their diverse workforce.

In this module, learners will be able to:

  • Explain the meaning of diversity, inclusion, equity and how these three differ and relate to each other
  • Summarize why discrimination and exclusion exist today
  • Identify incidences of discrimination and exclusion
Module 2: Understanding Unconcious Bias

Unconscious bias is automatic and triggered by our brain when making instant judgment and opinions of people and situations. In this module, learners will understand the importance of being aware of their unconscious biases and take the steps to disrupt them.

In this module, learners will be able to:

  • Describe unconscious bias and how it can show up in the workplace
  • Show greater awareness of your own unconscious biases
  • Apply three steps to disrupt unconscious bias
Module 3: Understanding and Confronting Microaggressions

Many of us have likely observed or been directly impacted by microaggressions in and out of the workplace. Though oftentimes unintentional, these harm people. What can you do to prevent these?

In this module, learners will:

  • Understand what microaggressions are
  • Identify three types of microaggressions
  • Review tips to address an aggressor
  • Learn ways to respond when receiving feedback
Module 4: Impacts of Discrimination on Mental Health

The Impacts of Discrimination on Mental Health module will explore how socio-political, economic exclusion, and discrimination lead to an array of mental health issues that not only impacts the individual but also the organization as it prevents them from receiving the benefits of a diverse workforce.

In this module, learners will be able to:

  • Describe how discrimination leads to an array of mental health issues
  • Recognize the impact of discrimination on individuals and organizations
  • Apply strategies to address discrimination and promote inclusion
Module 5: Embracing Inclusion

Embracing Inclusion will explore what is involved in creating an inclusive culture while being cognizant of an employee’s comfort level with inclusion initiatives.

After completing this module, learners will be able to:

  • Learn what inclusion means
  • Understand how inclusion impacts organizations
  • Learn five attributes to inclusive cultures
  • Overview of the stages of inclusion
Module 6: Building Cultural Competence

In this module we will explore what it means to be culturally competent and how cultural competence is an asset to any leader that seeks to create a higher degree of belongingness within the workplace.

After completing the module, learners will be able to:

  • Define cultural competence
  • Understand the three dimensions and two behaviours of cultural competence
  • Learn how leaders cultivate cultural competence
Module 7: Fostering a Growth Mindset

In this module we will explore the important distinction between fixed and growth mindsets as they pertain to workplace inclusion and productivity. After completing the module, learners will be able to implement ways to create and foster a growth mindset.

Module 8: Inclusive Leadership and Inclusive Leadership Toolkit

In this module we will explore what being an inclusive leader demands and looks like as well as what going beyond inclusion to conscious inclusion entails.

After completing this module, learners will be able to:

  • Understand and explain what an inclusive leader is
  • Describe the traits of an inclusive leader
  • Apply the tools and resources provided to build your own inclusive leadership toolbox
